Despite a shortened winter break Werder Bremen will hold a training camp to prepare for the second half of the Bundesliga. The German Cup winners will train in Dubai from 3-9 January 2010. The team will arrive on the first training day of the new year, and the team will stay at the Hotel Park Hyatt Dubai.
As part of the training camp Werder will be playing a test match against an opponent from the United Arab Emirates. It remains unknown when and where the game will take place. "This training camp was made possible because we were invited as team due to the standing television contracts between the (German Football League) DFL and the Bundesliga television partner Dubai Sports Channel. And we gladly accept this invitation. We have already checked out the training conditions and accommodations and we are looking forward to the very good working conditions," said manager Klaus Allofs on Tuesday.
Werder Bremen are changing the location of their January training camp for the first time in 10 years as head coach Thomas Schaaf’s team has always headed to the Turkish southern coast. "Over all the years we were always very satisfied with our Turkish hosts, and it is not out of question that we will return there in the future," added Allofs.
