Werder Bremen keeper Tim Wiese will start between the posts for the German national team on Wednesday 18 November 2009, as team manager Oliver Bierhoff announced in the final conference Tuesday before the test match against Ivory Coast. "We want to give Tim the chance to experience the hymns on Wednesday. He has really earned to play from the start, also because he has never started a match for us," said Bierhoff about the nomination of the 27-year-old Bremen player to start.
The German national team coach Joachim Löw is considering taking Wiese out at halftime against Ivory Coast in favour of Schalke’s Manuel Neuer, who would get a chance to play in front of his home crowd.
