Aaron Hunt has been nominated for the German national team roster for the final two friendlies of the year against Chile on 14 November 2009 in Cologne and against Ivory Coast on 18 November 2009 in Gelsenkirchen. The 23-year-old Werder player received the good news on Thursday from head coach Thomas Schaaf, who had talked on the telephone with German national team coach Joachim Löw. And Aaron Hunt was also notified directly from Löw by cell phone text message.
Hunt reacted relaxed to the news of his nomination following the morning training session.
"Of course it surprised me a little bit. But I had hoped the entire time that I would be nominated," said the attacking midfielder/striker. But Hunt said he is not expecting any sleepless nights. "I am happy to join the team. Of course I don't have any expectations. I am after all with the team for the first time. I will just see what happens," said the Werder player.
"Now we have the opportunity to give him a chance," said German boss Löw. "Aaron has played very consistently all season and really taken a step forward with good performances." Besides Hunt, also nominated for the German national team are Tim Wiese, who is scheduled to start between the posts against Chile, Per Mertesacker, Marko Marin and Mesut Özil.
