Aaron Hunt scored his second goal of the game just seconds before the final whistle to give Werder Bremen a 2-2 draw and secure one point, extending Bremen's undefeated streak to 17 games. "The ball wasn't cleared far enough and it came to me on the chest. I had a clear look at the goal and just shot. Even with the ball a couple yards from the goal, I knew that it would land in the upper corner. And it was just in time as the game didn't continue after that," described Hunt the final seconds of the game.
"Aaron has become a very consistent key player. It's not a surprise for me that he could do that. He has played super games often in the past," Bremen defender Naldo praised Hunt's great game after a nerve-racking comeback from a 2-0 deficit and a weak first half. "That was a very weak first half from us, in which we were missing everything in the defence that we had in the past few weeks. We will analyse and talk about that. But in the second half we fought ourselves back into the game," said head coach Thomas Schaaf. And goalkeeper Tim Wiese added: "That was a very important point. Who knows how much that will be worth at the end of the season?"
And the 17-game undefeated streak was of course a topic after the game. If a team doesn't lose poor performances, then when will they lose? "I don't know but it will surely happen some time. But I hope not until very late in the season. That would mean we continue to be successful," said Schaaf. And Hunt admitted: "From the outside, of course every game will be counted. But the team doesn't really care about the streak. We just want to win every game." And Naldo make clear that it's not enough just to win games, saying: "The next game, on Thursday against Vienna, I don't want to allow a goal."
