Werder Bremen's recent streak has alarm bells ringing for the rest of the league, but head coach Thomas Schaaf is laid back as usual. He was in well spirits Monday morning talking about the current situation in the standings. "We met some good goals, but as you can see they have not led us to leading the league. Despite our positive stretch there are still other teams ahead of us. That shows us that we cannot afford any weaknesses ourselves," said Schaaf.
The fact is that Werder jumped to within two points of the leaders after their 4-1 victory in Bochum. And an 11-1 goal difference and a full 12 points in their last four Bundesliga games speak for themselves. But the Bremen coach does not want the team to rest on their laurels, instead focusing on the next couple of weeks. "The next three, four games can give us a big idea of where we are heading this season. The fixtures offer a chance for the top teams to take away points from each other. But to continue our success, we have to win our games. Then we will see which of the teams can pull away from the top teams," said Schaaf.
Among the top matches in the next three game days are Schalke v Bayer Leverkusn; Bayern Munich v Schalke; and Bayern Munich v Bayer Leverkusen.
