After going from Werder through Bielefeld and Hanover to Bochum, Christoph Dabrowski has settled down. The 31-year-old played 49 games for Werder between 1998 and 2001, scoring three goals. He has since entered his fourth season with Bochum and is among their key players. WERDER.DE spoke with Christoph Dabrowski before Bochum's game against Werder.
Hello Christoph, Werder have not lost in Bochum in more than 11 years and have not lost at all in their last 14 games. How can Bochum break these streaks and win the game on Sunday?
Of course you cannot take into account these kinds of streaks. For us, Sunday is a big chance for us to be the team to snap those streaks. We are playing in front of our own fans and we expect quite a bit for the game on Sunday.
Bochum currently have only eight points from nine games for a disappointing 16th place on the table. Werder are fourth with 18 points. Where do you see both teams finishing the season?
I think Werder should have aspirations to play for the top spots. Maybe people in Bremen can even think about the title. With Bochum, we want to stabilise ourselves in the Bundesliga. I think we have been able to do that very well in the last three years. Now we have to build upon that.
Werder have qualified for international competitions six years in a row since their title in 2004. How do you see Werder's development since your departure in 2001?
Of course very positively. Werder continually reaching international football over the years just proves their high quality. I also think that Werder have become a real popular figure in Germany, which speaks for a positive image.
What's your tip for Sunday?
I am always bad with bets and tips. I will leave that to the experts. But of course we always want to win.
