This victory had to really be celebrated. After the 2-0 (2-0) win Saturday afternoon against Hoffenheim, the Werder players made an evening appearance for the fans at the Bremen Freimarkt folk festival. One could hardly hear their own words once the Werder players entered the stage of the Bavarian festival tent. And the Green-Whites used the traditional team night out during Bremen’s so-called fifth season – the Freimarkt – to present the new players to the fans.
The spectacle was an entirely new experience for Marko Marin, who transferred from Mönchengladbach to the Weser region before the season. “I really like it here. The atmosphere is just great. There is nothing close to this in Mönchengladbach,” said the new Bremen player after the appearance. As part of the show in front of a packed tent, Marin and company gave their best rendition of the well-known “Lebenslang Green-White” (“Lifelong Green-White”) hymn. Marin received support from fellow new acquisition Marcelo Moreno, returnees Tim Borowski and Claudio Pizarro as well as stadium speaker Arnd Zeigler.
The players used the invitation from Bavarian tent operator Uwe Hölzgen to enjoy the hearty Bavarian delicacies and the great atmosphere around the motto "Ischa Freimaak". After the appearance on the stage, the players celebrated among each other in a reserved lodge. And the mood was great as the Bremen Freimarkt went well into the night.
