WERDER.DE spoke to Hoffenheim coach Ralf Rangnick ahead of their Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen in Weser Stadium where the guests would like to take home three points.
Ralf Rangnick, last season the Werder v Hoffenheim game offered football fans some of the very best offensive football with one of the most spectacular games of the season with a 5-4 Werder win in Weser Stadium. How much do your recollections of that game influence your preparations for the up-coming contest?
Games from last season do not influence our preparations. We have a few new players in our roster; the team is more mature and has one more year of Bundesliga experience.
Your team is the youngest team in the league with an average age of 23.3 years. How important was the acquisition of a veteran centre back such as Josip Simunic?
Joe is a very important part of our team. He has recognised which possibilities he has here. And he is not just an asset for our team on the pitch.
Hoffenheim under your leadership have yet to beat Werder. What does your side neat to do to knock off Bremen?
We have to pay full attention from the first minute onwards. And we have not been able to do that in the last six away games. Bremen have above-average players in their offensive ranks and we have to keep them under wraps.
What is your bet for the game?
We are heading to Bremen to win.
