"Sure I’m a little bit tired," said Werder defender Naldo after his return to the training grounds on Friday, 16 October 2009. And that is understandable as the Brazilian had just had an 11-hour flight and landed in Bremen in the afternoon. All the more impressive was that the centre back was on the pitch for the final training at 3:30 p.m. "Jetlag should not be a problem for me. I will go to bed early tonight and sleep a lot," grinned the 27-year-old Naldo about his preparations for the Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim. Fellow South American teammate Marcelo Moreno also took part in the Green-Whites’ final training after his Bolivian national team trip.
Naldo not disappointed
Naldo said that he had no problem logging thousands of flight kilometres without playing a single minute for his homeland in Brazil’s two World Cup qualifiers. "I did not get aggravated. It is always nice to come back to Brazil. We do after all have a good team. Maybe I will play next time," said Naldo. But his thoughts were already focused fully on Bremen. "I am looking forward to playing now with Werder against Hoffenheim. They have a strong team, but still we would like to keep our sheet clean again," said Naldo.
Smaller roster for Hoffenheim game
Thomas Schaaf nominated just 16 players for the up-coming Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim. Missing from the roster is defender Petri Pasanen as the Finn had to sit out Thursday training already with a grippe infection. Christian Vander was also sick but got over it enough to train on Friday – though not in top form. "Being healthy is something totally different," said the stuffed-up goalkeeper on his way to the changing room.
After the final training session, Thomas Schaaf named the following 16-man roster: Wiese, Vander, Naldo, Fritz, Rosenberg, Marin, Özil, Hunt, Frings, Pizarro, Niemeyer, Mertesacker, Marcelo Moreno, Bargfrede, Boenisch, Andersen
