The captain led his team back onto the pitch. After overcoming his bruised foot and a number of days on break, Torsten Frings returned to team training on Monday 12 October 2009. The 32-year-old was leading a decimated training team during the cool-down runs. "Everything is okay with me. I am 100 percent ready to play," said Frings afterwards.
Bargfrede fit again
After overcoming his knee problems Philipp Bargfrede also returned to his teammates on Monday. The 20-year-old, who has since the beginning of the season earned a starting spot in the Green-Whites’ midfield, had to sit out last week due to inflammation of the patella tendon in his left knee. "Things went really well. I don’t have any more problems. Of course I hope that things stay that way," said Bargfrede.
Pasanen back from national team duty
The first player to return to team training after national team duty was Petri Pasanen on Monday after the Finnish national team’s 2-1 victory. Pasanen, who was expected to earn his 58th cap next weekend in Finland’s game against Germany in Hamburg, received his second yellow card and is suspended for the World Cup qualifier. The next training session will take place on Tuesday 13 October 2009 at 10 a.m. on the training grounds of Werder Stadium.
