Werder Bremen players had to do without their coach Thomas Schaaf for the final training session of the week on Friday 9 October 2009 as assistant coach Wolfgang Rolff filled in for the coach. "Thomas is travelling somewhere in Europe," smiled Rolff as he explained why Schaaf was missing. Also on the road with Schaaf was assistant coach Matthias Hönerbach.
Frings return on Monday
The nearly one-hour training under sunny skies went by without any big happenings. Torsten Frings was once again missing but the captain is due to return on Monday. But the back problem for Tim Borowski seems to be worse than originally feared. "Tim is riding the bike and doing stabilisation exercises. It will be tough for him to come back next week. It is looking like more for the following week," said Rolff. That means playing against Hoffenheim in the next Bundesliga match is doubtful. The health status of Sebastian Prödl also remains unchanged. "Sebastian once again completed an individual program. We have to see how the knee reacts to higher stress," Rolff said.
The next training session will take place on Monday, 12 October 2009 at 3:30 p.m. in Weser Stadium.
