Two defenders returned, the captain was missing and the head coach also played as Werder Bremen’s Wednesday training supplied plenty of things to discuss. While Sebastian Boenisch returned to team training, Sebastian Prödl completed his first individual workout after a long injury break. And the banged up Torsten Frings meanwhile took a precautionary timeout.
"I don’t have any more problems. Everything is okay with me. I am all the way back to training," said the 22-year-old Boenisch after the training session. Also back on the training grounds was Sebastian Prödl. The Austrian took part in an individual workout apart from his teammates. "I would gladly do more now. But I am being slowed down. But the first steps on the pitch did me good," said Prödl afterwards.
Break for Torsten Frings
One player was missing from the training grounds at Weser Stadium on Wednesday – Torsten Frings. The 32-year-old took part in team training yesterday but sat out Wednesday due to a heavy hit in training last week. "With Torsten, the injury did not get any better so now he is taking a break. It’s nothing bad. And we have a bit of time to let him rest. And we are doing that," said head coach Thomas Schaaf. Due to the number of missing players in training, Schaaf took part in practice on Wednesday. "That was an exception that I was playing. But it was fun. I am very satisfied with the session," said the coach on his way to the locker-room.
