The training week began Monday for Werder players just as they usually do after a Sunday match: the players who made more than just a short appearance had a light running session while the others practiced in a training game. One player especially happy to take part in the training was long-time injured Daniel Jensen. "You want to play your favourite sport and do your job. But I could not do that for half a year," said the Danish international in an exclusive interview with WERDER.TV.
"In my head that was really tough," admitted the longest serving current Werder player. Jensen said he had to work through moments in which he didn’t know how things would go on. But the negative thoughts are forgotten at least since the final training on Saturday and his second team training session of the season on Monday. "I am very happy to be back and now I have to take steps forward. If I can show my performance, then I know that I will get my chance again," Jensen told the WERDER.TV camera. Jensen’s midfield mate Mesut Özil did not take part in Monday training with his ongoing knee problem and he is questionable for the German Cup match at FC. St. Pauli.
