Thomas Schaaf was able to work with all his healthy Werder players for the first time this month on Friday. The only exception was striker Marcelo Moreno Martins, who travelled 20 hours back to Bremen from his national team duty. The Bolivian instead completed only a short running drill.
Dusko Tosic was given two days off for the birth of his daughter but completed a training session on Thursday. Markus Rosenberg may have returned to training on Wednesday after a three-month rehab, but it is considered unlikely that he will play in Sunday’s home game against Hanover. "Markus was out a long time. I do not think that he’s far enough along already for this weekend," said Schaaf, who added that "Rosi" needs to practice patience.
Aaron Hunt meanwhile has a good chance to be nominated and play against Hanover. The versatile offensive player, who has already started four matches this season, played just 21 minutes in the last game against Hertha Berlin. "It’s true that Aaron was a bit tired from the last games. But now he is relatively fresh and his actions are still good. All told, I am happy about the development that he has gone through," said Schaaf about the 23-year-old Hunt.
