It was a good day for Werder Bremen defender Naldo on Thursday. The Brazilian not only celebrated his 27th birthday and scored two goals in a training game but he also extended his contract with Werder for another year until 30 June 2013. "We are happy to keep Naldo an additional year with Werder Bremen. He is an important pillar in our game and has developed into one of the best defenders in the league," said manager Klaus Allofs.
Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf was also pleased with the decision of his centre back. "It's nice that Naldo made this choice. He has really developed well over the years and it's fun working with him. And we are happy that we will continue our way with him," said the coach. The Brazilian himself said there were private reasons for extending his deal. "Things are going very well for me with Werder. The entire atmosphere made this decision easy. In addition, my family and I really very welcome in Bremen," said Naldo
