Markus Rosenberg looked exhausted but happy. He leaned against the wall outside the changing room satisfied and answered journalists' questions. "It is so nice to be back at team training. It’s been three months since I last stood on the pitch with my teammates," said the Swede, who showed his goal scoring prowess straight away in his first training session.
Rosenberg was injured in the final minutes of last season’s German Cup final. His kneecap was causing real problems but that was hardly noticed among all the celebrations. But what followed was three months in which the Swedish international worked on keeping his kneecap where it belonged. "In order to relieve my knee in the future I will have to work more with my entire body," said the striker. "I am not scared. I am giving my all in training and my expectation has to be to play in the next game. Now I am training like I would belong to the starting line-up on Saturday."
Head coach Thomas Schaaf was happy about the prominent addition to his training group and is watching exactly how quickly the attacker gets back into the everyday rhythm. "First of all it’s nice that he’s back. He worked hard for that. Now we have to see how he handles the workload," said the coach.
