A renewed setback for Sebastian Prödl. The Austrian international had to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee on Monday. "We’ll have to await the results of the arthroscopy in order to see how things are to continue," explained head-coach Thomas Schaaf, who will most certainly have to make do without the defender for this Thursday’s Europa-League return leg clash with FK Aktobe.
Another definite absentee for the game in Kazakhstan will be striker Hugo Almeida, whose right foot is now in plaster due to an irritation of the plantar tendon: "The problems reared up after the game against Borussia Monchengladbach. I then had a more intensive examination and I must unfortunately wear a cast on my foot for the next fourteen days. I hope to be able to get back into training as soon as possible though," explained the Portuguese international.
There are still some doubts as to the availability of Aaron Hunt for the Europa-League away leg on Thursday. The young attacker was forced to rest on Monday with an inflammation of the toe base joint.
