Boubacar Sanogo travelled Wednesday afternoon to France and is close to a transfer to French side AS St. Étienne. "Both clubs have agreed to a transfer. But we cannot announce the completion of a move until Boubacar takes the sports physical in St. Étienne and signs a contract there," said Werder Bremen manager Klaus Allofs. In Bremen’s press conference ahead of their Europa League game, head coach Thomas Schaaf added: "Bouba will definitely not be available for the next game. It’s probable that he is leaving. He was very driven in the preparations. But we are convinced we are doing the right thing. We are not making this decision on short-term impressions. Instead we have looked at our entire situation, looking at what possibilities we haven. And the choices we have in attack have changed since the transfer of Claudio Pizarro."
Defender Sebastian Prödl remained out of training with a knee problem and will not be available in Thursday’s Play-Off game against FK Aktobe. Things do however look better for Naldo, who has returned to training. "He will be on the squad for the Aktobe game," said Schaaf.
