Werder Bremen players spent their first team training following a strenuous weekend with games in Munich and at the Citibank friendly tournament in Stahnsdorf by riding bicycles instead of practicing with the ball. Also on the bike was defender Naldo – a fact that does not mean that the Brazilian has overcome his thigh problem. "He’s not far enough along just yet. He can ride the bike. But we have to be patient a while longer with him," said head coach Thomas Schaaf Monday morning.

There was better news about Hugo Almeida, who has recovered from his slight problem with his right foot. While Daniel Jensen completed a rehab program with fitness coach Yann-Benjamin Kugel, Markus Rosenberg worked out in the weight room. And Tim Wiese had a strong individual training session with goalkeeper coach Michael Kraft. "Tim showed in Munich that he is one of the best keepers in Germany," said Schaaf about his top keeper.
