Werder Bremen anxiously await news on the availability of central defender Naldo for this Saturday’s Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt. The pulled tendon in his left ham-string, which the Brazilian incurred during training on Monday, was confirmed following a further examination on Wednesday: "We would of course be delighted if he could play on Saturday but we will have to wait ans see how the injury develops from day to day," explained head-coach Thomas Schaaf.
There is a similar fate awaiting Sebastian Boenish, who has been unable to train since Tuesday with a back problem: "I made one false move and since then I have pain which prevents me making quick, short movements. It is getting better but there is no way that I could even think of training out on the pitch at the moment," admitted the "Under 21 European Champion", who, on Wednesday morning, went through a session on the exercise bikes with his team mates who were involved in Monday’s game against Brinkumer SV. Thomas Schaaf summoned the rest of his squad to the training pitch where they went through some possible playing formations.
