Werder Bremen eased to a 5-0 victory over the amateur fifth division side Brinkumer SV in the final test match of the preparations. The goals for Thomas Schaaf’s team were scored by Niklas Anderson (4’), Marcelo Moreno Martins (18’), Philipp Bargfrede (49’, 57’) and Said Husejinovic (57’).
Schaaf changed his Werder side in a number of positions compared to the German Cup win over Union Berlin but had to do without Naldo, who is feared to have a pulled tendon in his left thigh. Bremen did not play that well in the first half but improved their play in after the break. "We moved pretty well and got things going. Things kind of stagnated here and there, but it was okay in the end," said coach Schaaf after the game.
