One day after his first game for Werder Bremen since his return from Bayern Munich, Tim Borowski met with the media and offered for the first time a glimpse into his feelings since his transfer. He was in good spirits and ready for action. WERDER.DE wrote down the most important answers. Today Part 2.
Tim, were there other options for you than a return to Werder Bremen?
Domestically, it was clear that I would only go to Werder Bremen. There were some interest from abroad but I never really dealt too intensively with that because there were always positive signals coming from Bremen.
Why did Bremen have such a bonus in your personal assessment?
That is the club where I grew up. I went through the youth and amateurs here and quickly made it to the professional team. I know the structures, the people, how they tick, can appreciate the environment. It is also no secret that my wife comes from Bremen and my daughter was born here. All of that played a role in my considerations.
Was your decision at all influenced by the trio of Frings, Mertesacker and Fritz speaking openly in favour of your return?
I know the three of them for a long time and never completely lost contact. I had heard that they would like me to return and would be happy. That made me a little proud and made me happy. That shows what kind of togetherness is in the team, how it’s a big plus for the success of the team.
With a super season at Werder, do you think you can still jump on board to the World Cup and regain a spot in the German national team?
That’s a little too far in advance for me. I first have to have a good start in Bremen and then we will see. If we can put together a positive run and I play a major role in it, then things will happen automatically, especially in the quick life of football.
