While the rest of the team had Thursday afternoon off, striker Marcelo Moreno and Naldo both put in a special training session. Just like the past couple days, the South Americans continued their individual rehab program. And the big positive for Thursday was that both finally trained again with the ball.
The individual program came to fruition on Friday as both Naldo and Moreno both returned to team training in the morning. But the positive news was joined by a negative. Hugo Almeida had to leave Friday morning training with groin problems. "We had to take him out and will see how it develops and if it quiets down," said Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf about the Portuguese. Also getting a break was Timo Perthel, who was dealing with back issues. And Moreno missed the afternoon session, but more a cautionary move. "After coming back to the team, he didn’t have to train twice right away. One session is enough for now," said Schaaf.
