Werder Bremen collected their second victory in four preparation test matches as head coach Thomas Schaaf’s team beat Czech club FK Baumit Jablonec 5-2 in Ritzing, Austria. The goal scorers for the Green-Whites were Torsten Frings (18’ – penalty), Hugo Almeida (51’), Petri Pasanen (59’), Marko Futacs (74’) and Said Husejinovic (88’). Lafata (24’) and Vukovic (68’) scored for Jablonec.
Two players celebrated a test match debut for the Green-Whites. After finishing a suspension, Torsten Frings led the team onto the pitch for the first time as full-time captain. And Christian Vander was the rotating choice between the goalposts. Compared to their previous test matches, Werder showed an improved performance. And head coach Thomas Schaaf was satisfied with his team’s showing. “That was much, much better than what we showed beforehand. We moved a lot better, there was structure in our game and we looked to finish,” praised the coach.
