He senses the doubts of those listening but responds with confidence. Boubacar Sanogo has returned from Hoffenheim and is full of hope going into his new time with Werder. The hope stems from self-critical analysis of his last season. Sanogo used a round of talks with journalists in Werder's training camp in Bad Waltersdorf on Sunday to announce his personal new beginning. "I am really happy to be back in Bremen. I was always happy here, even when things did not go well on the pitch. But I would like to put those bad times behind me. Now there is a new beginning and I am ready for it," said Sanogo.
In order to achieve his goals with Werder, the striker is even considering foregoing participation in the Africa Cup of Nations. And his motivation comes from a talk with Thomas Schaaf and Klaus Allofs. "It was a very good talk. I know that everything depends on me. If I can improve then I will play. They want to the real Sanogo back. And I think that I can once again be the real Sanogo. I know my quality and know that I can do it," said the striker, who is ready to take on the challenge with Werder. Not even the return of Claudio Pizarro would change Boubacar Sanogo's plans - just the opposite.
"We need his goals to play at the top. Last season he scored in nearly every second game. And that was very important for Werder. If I can add the goals I plan on scoring, then Werder will go quite far," grinned the African striker.
