The German Football League (DFL) scheduled on Thursday the first five game days of the up-coming 2009-10 Bundesliga season. Werder Bremen will start their season on Saturday, 8 August 2009 at 3:30 p.m. against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Green-Whites will also play on a Saturday in the second round of games, on 15 August 2000 at 3:30 p.m. at last season runners-up Bayern Munich in Allianz Arena.
The second home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach will be played Sunday, 23 August 2009 at 5:30 p.m. while the following two Sunday matches against Hertha Berlin (30 August 2009 at Olympic Stadium) and versus Hannover (13 September 2009 at Weser-Stadion) will start at 3:30 p.m. Since Werder Bremen begin their Europa League season in the final qualification Playoff round on Thursdays 20 August 2009 and 27 August 2009, Thomas Schaaf's players will have two full days of preparations for their Bundesliga matches on the third and fourth game days.
