Werder Bremen defender Sebastian Prödl is out of action due to a viral infection. The Austrian had to leave the Green-Whites' training on Sunday, and he returned to Bremen on Monday for further examinations. "We are taking Sebastian's complaints seriously and do not want to risk anything. Therefore we immediately took him out of the training. We will give him time now to recover from everything," said manager Klaus Allofs.
The 22-year-old Prödl will therefore miss the test match against his former club Sturm Graz (Saturday, 11 July 2009) as well as the adjoining training camp (11-19 July, 2009) in Bad Waltersdorf, Austria. "It is really too bad. I was really looking forward to it. But health comes first. I felt weak during all the drills since the beginning of training camp. And now I need to be patient and give my body the time it needs for a full recovery. All I can do is wait until the results return to normal. Still, I hope that I can get back to the team soon," Prödl said Wednesday morning.
