The German Cup winners Werder Bremen will officially kick off their 2009-10 season on Thursday 2 July 2009. Head coach Thomas Schaaf and manager Klaus Allofs will meet mid-day with media about the Green-Whites' plans and goals for the up-coming season.

And starting at 3:30 p.m. at the third division grounds Platz 11, Thomas Schaaf will call his players to their first training unit - a public lactate test. The squad will not be complete - just like at Norderney - since a number of players took part in international matches after the German Cup final and will enter preparations later. For that reason, Werder's U21 European champions Mesut Özil, Sebastian Boenisch and new addition Marko Marin will not be on hand Thursday.

Before the team leaves for their training camp at Norderney on Friday morning, there is a highlight awaiting all Werder fans. The new Werder Bremen jersey will be presented to the public Thursday night at the official celebration for the start of the partnership between Werder and Nike.

WERDER.DE and WERDER.TV will be on hand for this presentation and the start of the season.
