Green and white remain popular colours in German football with Werder Bremen repeating their status from 2007 as the most likeable Bundesliga club in Germany according the most recent football survey by the sports rights marketing group Sportfive.
"We are happy that we are again the most likeable club of the league according to this analysis. The study confirmed what we have experienced up close at many away matches this season – that Werder Bremen are welcomed very friendly and fairly. The result of the study underlines the large appreciation that Werder Bremen enjoy in German football," said Werder manager Klaus Allofs about the new figures.
More than 28.2 million Germans find Werder Bremen likeable according to the study. That makes up 54 percent of those interested in football in the country. That mark is ahead of Hoffenheim (53 percent), Schalke (50 percent) and Bayern Munich (48 percent). From the nearly 37 million football fans in Germany with a favourite German club, 4.2 million of them are Werder supporters. Only Bayern Munich enjoy more fans than the Green-Whites.
Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf has another reason to be pleased about the Sportfive study. In the same survey he ranked as the fifth most likeable coach with German national team boss Joachim Löw as number one.
As part of the study, the Hamburg company asked some 2,000 fans about various topics around the sport as well as how much and which media they use and their opinions about sponsoring and other events.
