Werder coach Thomas Schaaf welcomed the recently banged up Claudio Pizarro, Markus Rosenberg, Aaron Hunt and Naldo back to the final training on Bremen soil before heading to Istanbul.
The Brazilian Naldo, who had been fighting a minor adductor muscle fibre tear, said he has "no more pain". Pizarro and Rosenberg also said they feel healthy. "With Aaron, the question is if he can do things like he wants to in his head," said Schaaf about the recovered offensive all-arounder Aaron Hunt, who himself does not believe he can play a full 90 minutes.
Only captain Frank Baumann completed individual running drills and finished training before his team-mates. The 33-year-old is dealing with adductor problems and was held out of team practice for precautionary reasons. "We assume and hope that he will be back by Wednesday," said Schaaf.
Baumann is definitely flying to Istanbul with the rest of the team on Tuesday. "We are bringing with us all players with who could possibly play. The suspended Diego and Hugo Almeida will also be with the team to support them," said Schaaf, who has nominated the following 21 players for the trip to Istanbul: Wiese, Mielitz, Vander, Pellatz, Boenisch, Pasanen, Naldo, Tosic, Baumann, Vranjes, Fritz, Rosenberg, Özil, Hunt, Prödl, Tziolis, Frings, Pizarro, Niemeyer, Andersen, Harnik.
