Well, finally! After going 12 games without a victory on the road in the Bundesliga, Werder finally brought back home three points in the league.
"We wanted to get some positive feelings here. We were able to do that today. And now that has to be our goal against Karlsruhe on Saturday as well," said Torsten Frings.
"We need these successful games because they give us confidence," said manager Klaus Allofs. Head coach Thomas Schaaf added: "It's important that you stay secure and continue your strategies, that gives you self-confidence and strength." And Bremen captain Frank Baumann said: "The victory doesn't hurt, but the final in Istanbul is something entirely different."
Sebastian Boenisch also said Wednesday night's success in Frankfurt will not change that much in the next few days. "It gives confidence and that is good going into the next couple of games. But you don't need too much motivation ahead of two finals," said Boenisch.
