"We are the winner from of these match-ups. We felt beforehand like the 'Number one in the North' and we still are. We fought off the attack of Hamburg this year," grinned Klaus Allofs. "The 2-0 victory on Sunday against Hamburg was clearly deserved." Midfielder Torsten Frings was also satisfied after the 2-0 victory. "We won both times to reach a final and today were still up for Hamburg. And we sent them home with another loss. That hurts a lot for sure," said the German international. "I always thought it would go this way because I always think positively."
Werder team captain Frank Baumann also sees the Green-Whites as the clear winners of the four derbies. "We beat a strong team, which until facing us had had a very good season. And we did it a couple of times. So we were able to give something back to our fans, especially those who really pushed us forward in Hamburg," said Baumann. Keeper Tim Wiese, who spent a long time celebrating with the Werder fans after the victory against Hamburg, was satisfied. "Winning this derby series is very important for the entire region. We showed everyone who the number one in the North is. But now I am happy that it's over with," said the German international keeper.
