Manager Klaus Allofs on Saturday made a statement about media reports suggesting Wolfsburg’s interest in Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf, comforting all Bremen supporters. “Thomas Schaaf has a contract with us for one more year and we will work together next year as well. We talked about this subject and in the discussions it was clear that no one needs to be worried that a move will be coming. We have worked together for 10 years and that will continue. Period,” said Allofs during Werder’s final training Saturday afternoon.
Allofs said he understood that other clubs were interested in the work of Thomas Schaaf. “I cannot confirm any contacts being made, but I could understand other clubs if they had interest. It’s clear that clubs looking for a coach right now have to make contacts or hold talks or make requests. That is totally normal,” continued Allofs.
Wolfsburg manager Jürgen Marbach on Saturday told PREMIERE that they would be interested in Thomas Schaaf but that Wolfsburg are fully aware that the Bremen coach is not available. Marbach underlined that Wolfsburg therefore are concentrating their search on other coaches.
Thomas Schaaf did not want to comment on the media reports, something Klaus Allofs also understood. “We have had to deal with this kind of speculation all season. Pizarro, Diego and now Thomas. You don’t have to respond to everything,” said Allofs about the reaction of his coach.
