Werder Bremen are setting the course for more successful youth development in the future. And they are relying on something already well proven. The board of directors, represented by manager Klaus-Dieter Fischer, prematurely extended their contracts with all full-time coaches of the performance centre. The Werder youth team leaders Thomas Wolter and Frank Bender (both U23), Mirko Votava (U19), Viktor Skripnik (U17), Marco Grote (U18/U16), Thorsten Bolder (U15) and goalkeeper coach Michael Jürgen were all signed until 2013.

"Werder enjoy an excellent reputation throughout the world for their youth development. And the coaches make up an important building block. With the contract extensions, we want to recognise them for their excellent work, and I hope that they will do their part in the next four years of educating many very good footballers," said the Werder manager Klaus-Dieter Fischer.
