PRESS RELEASE

Werder Bremen vehemently deny a report broadcasted on the NDR Hörfunk and Radio Bremen radio stations saying a former E-level youth trainer of the club sexually abused two youngsters during his time with the club. It is correct that the now 35-year-old man was sentenced this week to five years in prison by the Oldenburg Regional Court for 81 cases of sexual abuse. But according to police, however, the man committed his crimes after the fall of 2001. The convicted individual voluntarily ended his duties with Werder in the summer of 2001. And there were no complaints about him during his time with the Green-Whites.

NDR and Radio Bremen have acknowledged their mistake in research and re-broadcasted a corrected version of the report on Tuesday afternoon.
