The recently banged-up Mesut Özil was able to take part in the final training just like shoot-out hero Tim Wiese.

The 250 guests watching from behind the fence Werder's final training could hardly tell that the players are still aching from the energy-sapping cup battle against Hamburg. One player who had too much on Wednesday night was Frank Baumann. The captain could not train on Friday due to muscular problems and will miss Saturday's game against Bochum. Petri Pasanen and Aaron Hunt missed the game against Hamburg and will have to sit again this weekend.

There is, however, good news about Mesut Özil, whose knee was heavily bandaged after the two-hour cup match. "Everything is okay with me. I can play against Bochum," said the penalty scorer from Wednesday night who has been dealing with knee problems for weeks.

Head coach Thomas Schaaf did not want to tip his hand regarding his line-up for the up-coming Bundesliga match. As usual, there was very little to be read from the final training session. And it remains to be seen if all the players on the player's list have the necessary fitness to play. "You can see that not everyone can give 1000 percent. We have to see how it looks Saturday afternoon. We will need the final 24 hours," said Schaaf regarding the short time between cup and Bundesliga match to recover.

The following 17 players are on the roster for the Bochum game on Saturday: Wiese, Vander - Boenisch, Naldo, Tosic, Fritz, Prödl, Mertesacker - Vranjes, Diego, Özil, Tziolis, Frings, Niemeyer - Rosenberg, Almeida, Pizarro
