The German-Italian Fanfest before the UEFA Cup home game against Udinese Calcio was well-received by supporters of both teams. Many Italian fans experienced an absolute first by eating, drinking and celebrating with fans of the other side before the game in the other team's stadium. "I could never imagine something like this for an away match in the Serie A," said Udine fan Niccolò Picotti.

Bremen board of directors member Klaus-Dieter Fischer even made an appearance at Weser-Stadion's East Curve Hall. There were not only about 300 fans from Italy at the event but also two television camera teams from local stations in Udine and the Friaul region. They were reporting on the friendly relationship between Werder and Udine fans.

The Tifosi were so excited about the friendly Fanfest along the Weser that they want to put together a similar reception for the travelling Werder fans for the return leg on Thursday. The last time Werder Bremen played in Udine, during the 2005/06 Champions League season, Green-White supporters were invited for local food and drinks from the region at the city's market square.
