Daniel Jensen underwent successful surgery on his right Achilles tendon Wednesday afternoon in Munich. The Danish international, who was subbed out of Denmark's World Cup qualifier against Albania last week with pain in the Achilles tendon, had the operation in the Munich-Bogenhausen clinic with Dr. Ludwig Seebauer doing the surgery. Jensen remained in Munich afterwards and was expected to return to Bremen on Friday. Then the rehabilitation will begin for the Danish international.
The midfielder will not be able to play the rest of the season. "We were certainly discus the exact details when he returns to Bremen. But the fact is that he will miss the rest of the season," confirmed Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf. If things go well, Jensen could take part in team training in the preparations for next season.
Jensen had a season dominated by injury bad luck. He struggled with groin problems and also missed time with a broken nose. A year after helping Bremen finish runner-up, Jensen appeared in only 11 games - only five of those for the full 90 minutes.
