Just as expected, nearly all of Werder’s players who returned from national team duties took part in Bremen team training on Friday. The only bad news was reserved for midfielder Daniel Jensen, who was injured while playing for Denmark. “The MRI showed that there is inflammation in my Achilles tendon,“ said the 29-year-old Jensen. The Dane, who has fully recovered from his broke nose from two weeks ago, cannot practice the rest of this week and has been ruled out of the North Derby on Sunday against Hannover. “It’s aggravating that he cannot play,“ said head coach Thomas Schaaf. And it’s unclear when Jensen can return to action. “We have to wait a couple of days,“ said Schaaf.
Luckily, things look better for the other returnees. Petri Pasanen, Per Mertesacker and Sebastian Prödl all were back on the training grounds. Alexandros Tziolis also took part in team training again after completing only an individual workout on Thursday. “I was still a little tired from the national team trip,“ explained the Greek international.
