Beaming sun, a light wind and good moods. One could really notice the change of the weather on Werder's players on Wednesday. After getting surprised by hopefully the final bout with winter last week and sprints on a snow-covered, the players kicked around the ball on green grass under blue skies. "That makes a big difference. Training is real joy in this weather," said Baumann on his way to the locker room in the morning.
For the afternoon session, two prominent players joined the team training, which has been decimated through national team action and injuries. Hugo Almeida had already returned from his international duties after Portugal played Tuesday evening. And Claudio Pizarro joined the team after individual running drills in the morning.
"I wanted to test this afternoon how far I am, and it looked pretty good. But it was an easy session. Still I think I can get back into the team training for good tomorrow," said the Peruvian. Also with the team was Mesut Ozil though he is still dealing with knee problems. "I still feel it a bit but it's getting better. The training workload is no problem," said the German youth international.
The highlight of the day came from Diego in the morning, as he showed off his skills in a training game with a sensational bicycle kick goal. He even received applause from his team-mates. A goal on Sunday against Hannover would be more important. But it still pleased some 100 spectators.
