Udinese Calcio will miss two main players in their UEFA Cup quarter-final tie against Werder Bremen. Udinese's Slovenian international goalkeeper Samir Handanovic went down last week with a twisted knee and is out of both matches. And then top striker Antonio Di Natale suffered a knee injury and could miss the rest of the season.
The Italian striker damaged a ligament in his left knee in Italy's World Cup qualifier against Montenegro and had to be subbed out after an hour. The Italian team doctor Enrico Castellaci assumed that "there was only limited damage". But Castellaci said Di Natale's season would over if the 31-year-old needed surgery. "Should he decide for conservative treatment then he could play the last few games of the season," said the team doctor.
