Two weeks before facing off against leaders Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga, Werder Bremen is already a topic. Werder is connected to two events at the 6th International Football Film Festival "11 mm" next weekend from 3-6 April 2009 at the Babylon cinema in Berlin Mitte.
On Saturday, 4 April 2009 at 6 p.m., the 1988 European Cup first leg between BFC Dynamo and Werder Bremen will be shown in full length and with original commentary from East German television. The game ended with a 3-0 victory for the East German champions but was the first step of the miracle comeback for Werder. The Green-Whites turned the tables and won the return leg with a legendary 5-0 result.
At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, 4 April 2009, the documentary film "Women Beginners - a year for Werder Bremen" will be shown in a competition. The 92-minute film looks at five women football players who fight to play for the newly-founded women's football project with the Green-Whites. The showing of the film at the "11 mm" festival will be its premiere outside of Bremen.
