werder.de: You and your family lived in Bremen for three years. Do you have a sense of home with northern Germany?
Micoud: No exactly, but I was very happy when Klaus Allofs called me and invited me to come here. And I am very thankful to him for that. It's an honour to be back here. I met some old friends who I haven't seen in two and a half years. It was great being here again.
Frank Baumann is the only player left from the team which won two titles. Are you shocked at all about the fluctuation?
Micoud: No, not at all. We were all old guys anyhow and you couldn't expect anything else than getting rid of us pretty quick (laughing) ...
But seriously, do you just have to live with all these changes as a player or fan?
Micoud: That's the law of football. You really can't do anything about it. It's tough keeping a roster together over a long period of time. That rarely or never happens. The only exceptions are the clubs with really big budgets. Manchester United can afford that to a certain degree. But they also swap enough players.
You are now planning a career as a player's agent. What do as a future agent you say about Diego?
Micoud: I can remember the debate about my successor. He was so young and there were such high expectations of him. And you have to say that he has fulfilled them. I am happy for Diego that things worked so well for him. I remember when he came, a journalist asked me what will happen with Werder when I leave and this young player comes. But back then I knew about him from his time with Porto and thought quite highly of him. I said back then that he can lead Werder if he is given the time. I am happy that it worked out like that. He is a special player. The Bundesliga can be happy to have him. The league needs these kinds of players to bring fans into the stadium.
