With eight players on duty with their national team and Claudio Pizarro, Torsten Frings, Mesut Özil and Sebastian Boenisch all out injured, Werder's training session on Thursday was rather quiet. "As it looks now, the injured players should be far enough along next week that we can start talking about taking part in training again," said head coach Thomas Schaaf.
Frank Baumann meanwhile was able to return to practice today after completing individual workouts the past few days. "I am back to full strength and have no more pain," said the Bremen captain. Markus Rosenberg is not quite that far along. But the striker, who is also working out individually, is on the right path. "I am doing more and more every day. And luckily with the break in play there is no hurry that I would need to risk anything," said the Swedish international.
