Werder Bremen's Sebastian Boenisch will miss the German U21 national team's final two test games before the 2009 European Championships due to injury. The 22-year-old planned on playing against the Netherlands on 27 March 2009 in Ahlen and Belarus on 31 March 2009 in Paderborn. Boenisch left on Monday for the German Football Federation youth base at the Kaiserau sports school in Kamen. But he returned to Bremen later in the afternoon.
"With the heavy strain of the past few weeks, I have had groin problems. We therefore decided that I should forego the two international matches and scale down my training intensity over the next few days," said Boenisch.
The outside defender joins Torsten Frings, Mesut Özil and Markus Rosenberg as the fourth Werder player who to pull out of international matches due to injuries.
