Talk about unlucky. On Sunday Christian Vander was named CITIBANK Man of the Match after the game against Bayern Munich. Now he has been diagnosed with a torn muscle from during the game and will have to sit out injured. "It happened near the end of the game. I felt something but it wasn't anything serious. Then the examination today showed that I tore a muscle in the adductors. This is, of course, really bitter," said Vander, who will definitely have to sit the next two games.
In the run-up to the German Cup match at Wolfsburg on Wednesday, it remains unclear who will stand between the posts for Bremen at the Volkswagen Arena. Regular starting goalkeeper Tim Wiese is still recovering but it's not yet known if he will be ready against Wolfsburg. That means U23 keepers Nico Pellatz and Sebastian Mielitz have a chance to make the Werder professional squad when Bremen face the Wolves for a spot in the semi-finals.
