Werder player Naldo was suspended for three games by the sports court of the German Football Federation (DFB). The body ruled that Naldo's tackle on Bastian Schweinsteiger in the 16th minute of the Bundesliga game against Bayern Munich was a professional foul. Naldo and Werder Bremen have already accepted the ruling.
The Brazilian will miss the following games: at Hoffenheim (7 March 2009), at home against Stuttgart (15 March 2009) and at Borussia Dortmund (22 March 2009). The defender is, however, eligible to play in Werder's German Cup match on Wednesday against Wolfsburg. "I was hoping for a ban of two games. But I also accept the suspension for three games, even though it seems a bit long for me," said Naldo.
