Is this all a big bluff? Or are things really so bad with the Milan offence? Head coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke Wednesday afternoon of an absolute striker crisis. "This is extraordinary situation. Kaka definitely will not play. And whether or not (Alexandre) Pato, (Andriy) Shevchenko or Ronaldinho can play we will have to wait and see after the final training," said Ancelotti, who will have to rely heavily on his veteran Fillipo Inzaghi. "He is the only real healthy striker and is really in fine form right now. He hardly makes any mistakes. He scored the most goals internationally last year and wants to defend that title. This is a very important game for him."
But there is quite a bit at stake for Ancelotti and the entire team on Thursday against Werder. The team faced plenty of jeers from fans last weekend during the game against Cagliari. And just like for Bremen, Milan are longing more and more for success. "We will run out there with the best team available. We want to give our all - no result strategising or calculating. We will play boldly and continually look for chances," said the AC boss.
And the Milan coach showed Werder the highest respect, warning his players about the northern Germans, adding: "They are a team used to playing big games and dealing with the pressure. And pressure can be a good helper. I think every football fan will have fun with this game because both teams want to win. It is a decisive game." Ancelotti also was trying to attract fans to the game, for which only 15,000 tickets had been sold by Wednesday. And he wasn't too happy about that disinterest. "The spectators will be very important in this game," he reminded his team's fans.
