"We will have all our lights on," said head coach Thomas Schaaf at the official press conference before the away match against FC Energie Cottbus (Saturday, 21 February 2009, 3:30 p.m.). He was referring to the fact that his team will be fully concentrated and alert for the up-coming showdown with the 16th-placed team. The Green-Whites are still waiting for their first Bundesliga victory of the new year. And Bremen hopes to bag their first "triple" at Cottbus's Stadion der Freundschaft arena.
"We all know our situation in the league. We can't give away anything," said Schaaf, whose team is ranked 10th on the table and have left quite a few points uncollected in the past few games. Especially against Borussia Mönchengladbach and AC Milan, Bremen failed to take advantage of their massive number chances.
"The confidence in scoring has not been there recently. There are phases in which things just do not work. What's important is that the players continue to give their all and not give up. Our players will push on and I am convinced that they will at some time be rewarded for their efforts. It would be nice if it happens on Saturday," said manager Klaus Allofs, hoping for more goals in Cottbus.
