Frank Baumann is unsure if he will appear on the player's list after getting over his cold. But his presence in the line-up against Schalke would be a help for the team.

As the rest of the team headed to the Bremen train station Friday afternoon to catch the train towards the Ruhr Region, Aaron Hunt stayed behind. But it still was a good day for the offensive all-around. For the first time since the final game of the first half against VfL Wolfsburg in mid-December, Hunt was again working with the ball on the pitch. He is not yet far enough along to work out with the team but the individual workout with fitness trainer Yann-Benjamin Kugel was a big step forward for the 22-year-old Hunt, who had suffered a major setback with his knee problems.

Aaron Hunt hopes to return to team training within two or three weeks and get back to working with the team-mates he has seldom seen recently. "We have not had many opportunities to see each other in the locker room because I have been away for therapies or riding the bike. Some of the guys I only know from the television," joked the Werder professional, who is even working out at home to get fit.

Two other players meanwhile are in Thomas Schaaf's squad even though they recently were question marks. Captain Frank Baumann has gotten over his cold and was given the green light for the trip. And the same goes for Peter Niemeyer. "I am not yet totally back to full fitness but I was able to complete the final training. Until tomorrow I still have a few hours to get better health-wise," said the midfielder.

The following 18 players were sitting in the train Friday afternoon on their way to the Schalke match: Wiese, Vander, Boenisch, Pasanen, Naldo, Tosic, Baumann, Vranjes, Fritz, Rosenberg, Özil, Tziolis, Frings, Almeida, Niemeyer, Mertesacker, Harnik, Perthel.
